10 years with Zipwake.

Meet the very first Zipwake customers – the Swedish couple Börje and Marianne Fritzell from Gränna.

It all started with a visit to the yearly boat exhibition in Gothenburg in 2015, where they met Niclas Olofsson, the founder and inventor of the Zipwake dynamic trim control system. Niclas introduced Börje and Marianne to the Zipwake boat trim system and explained how it worked and what they could expect from it. It didn’t take long for Börje, who also is a bit of a techie, to convince Marianne that they should give Zipwakes fast-acting interceptors a try. So, a few weeks later, the couple placed their order, and in May the same year, they replaced their old, traditional trim tab system with the 2015 revolutionary interceptor system from Zipwake.

Right from the start, Börje and Marianne experienced a huge difference when they replaced their old trim tabs to Zipwake interceptors. The boat behaved differently both during acceleration and at cruising speed. It planned faster, with improved comfort and felt much more balanced overall. Another big gain for Börje and Marianne was the improved fuel economy which was also reflected in their fuel bill, by at least 10%. But for Börje, the biggest advantage ever since, is the automatic trim control, so he doesn’t have to trim the boat manually anymore. “It’s fully automatic, which gives us a much calmer and more enjoyable boating experience”, Börje says with a big smile on his face.

Börje and Marianne have been enthusiastic boaters since they purchased their first powerboat, a Maxime, 36 years ago. Over the years, they’ve owned several different boats, but in 2005, they found their pride and joy in a Storebro 465. Marianne describes their boat as their “summerhouse on the water”, where they spend most of their time during the summer. She also mentions that Zipwake has significantly improved their experience and confidence on the water since it provides not only precise control and improved comfort but also enhanced safety. Their home port is in Vättern, Sweden’s second-largest lake, located in the middle of the country. Despite the quite central inland location, the couple every summer takes their boat to either the west or east coast of Sweden for a sea experience.

Börje and Marianne were the first customers to experience the development of the Zipwake system firsthand. They’ve witnessed the system evolve from its initial version to today’s 4th iteration of the Zipwake software. 50 000 systems have been delivered and installed globally and Niclas Olofsson stated, “A lot has happened during the past 10 years, both on the hardware and software side. But all our efforts and development have always had the same goal – to give as many people as possible the best boating experience of their lives. We are committed to continuing to improve the Zipwake system and making it even more accessible.”
